David Hunkeler, Director; AQUA+TECH Specialties SA

David Hunkeler is the Director and Chairman of AQUA+TECH. The Swiss firm's main activity is in the development, production and marketing of water soluble and swellable polymers used in water treatment and recycling. These products are applied in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East with the spectrum of industrial sectors including agriculture, aggregates, mining, rubber, chemicals, food, paper, textiles and vehicles. AQUA+TECH also manufactures a range of thickeners used in cosmetics. It has been voted Europe's top environmental company by Wall Street Journal Europe and also works with multinational companies on life cycle assessment and environmental management. David has a doctorate in polymers and was a professor in the United States and Europe for over a decade. He has authored books on Life Cycle Management and Life Cycle Costing. The latter include a Code of Practice which followed up on a SETAC global working group on the same topic which he chaired for six years. He has authored over two-hundred scientific papers, written seven books, received awards for technology and entrepreneurship and, in his spare time, is a poet.
