John Englander, Founder and President; International Sea Level Institute

John Englander is an oceanographer, consultant and leading expert on climate.

 

Englander works with businesses, governmental agencies and communities to understand the risks of increased flooding due to rising seas, extreme tides, and severe storms. He advocates for "intelligent adaptation" while there is still time to prepare for the higher sea level and changing coastlines that are now inevitable.

 

He is President and founder of the non-profit, the International Sea Level Institute. For over 30 years, he has been a leader in both the private and non-profit sectors, serving as CEO for such noteworthy organizations as The International SeaKeepers and The Cousteau Society.

 

His book, High Tide On Main Street: Rising Sea Level and the Coming Coastal Crisis, is the best seller on the topic.

 

John Englander is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), of The Explorers Club, and Research Fellow at the Institute of Marine Sciences- UC Santa Cruz.
